John Lancaster
John Lancaster is a proud member of the Kwakwaka’wakw Nation from the north end of the island. He was born in a small community of Alert Bay B.C., Canada. He was born on June the 3rd of 1960. As a member of the Namgis First Nations, he comes from many generations of traditional artists. His career began at an early age of 15 years old, under the support and guidance of his knowledgeable uncles, Alfred, Pat and Normand Seaweed. John was very instrumental in the instruction and encouragement of his younger brothers Donald and Herbert to enter the field of designing jewellery. Since 1986, John has worked full time creating contemporary Northwest coast jewellery in both Silver and Gold. His beautiful native creations serve as a testament to the talent of this dedicated artist. John along with his wife and two daughters, now reside in Victoria B.C. Canada.
