Brian Bob
Brian Bob‘s native name is Qwuyutsapool, a Nuu-Chah-Nulth derived traditional name which translates in English to ‘Policer of the wolves’.
Brian honours the heritage of both his mother and father in his work. His mother, Fran Touchie, is from the Nuu-Chah-Nulth nation which practised whaling from traditional dugout canoes on the regged West Coast of Vancouver Island. It is also out of respect and honour for his father, Wilson Bob, the hereditary chief of the Snaw-naw-as (Nanoose Bay) Nation that urges Brian to Humbly aspire to return to native teachings.
Through the mediums of wood, gold, and silver, Brian captures the spirit of Northwest Coast Native Art.
